Welcome to
trekhimalayas.net
Trek Himalayas arrange treks,
cycling trips & tours throughout the Himalayas and Goa
(for those who prefer beaches to mountains), tailored especially for your needs
and interests. We run treks and tours throughout Sikkim, Ladakh and Nepal, offering once in a lifetime, fun adventure tours with spectacular views of some of the highest mountains in the world. Also included in our tours are visits to monasteries, national parks and museums, meeting with local people and visiting charity projects supported by Trek Himalayas. We believe in giving back to the regions in which we operate,
therefore 20% of our profits go to charity
projects , mostly concerned with educating childre n in India and Nepal.
Sikkim is currently our most popular destination for trekking and cycling tours. This is largely due to the un spoilt natural splendor and tranquility of the countryside here. Sikkim is committed to protecting the environment, has a ban on plastic bags and is frequently referred to as the 'Switzerland of India'. Sikkim is famous for it's beautiful waterfalls, rivers, lakes, abundance of orchids and rhododendrons but the glory of Sikkim is found in the snow capped mountains which surround them in a protective embrace. Born and raised in Sikkim, Mohan Nepal of Trek Himalayas has first hand knowledge and experience of the best routes and trails across some of the most un spoilt of areas. He has also witnessed first hand some of the neglected areas in Sikkim, where some of the poorer children don't have the opportunity of an education. Although Sikkim is the richest state in India, some areas have been forgotten by the government. It is Mohan's dream and mission to build a school in Pelling, west Sikkim, with 20% of Trek Himalayas profits from Sikkim trips going directly to funding the school.
Nepal is our next popular destination, the obvious attraction being the highest mountain in the world. The trip to Everest Base Camp is truly a once in a lifetime experience, and is needed to be seen to be believed. Eight of the world's fourteen 8000 m peaks lie within Nepal's borders. The splendid mountain scenery has made it one of the world's premiere trekking destinations. Both the Annapurna circuit and the Everest base camp trek have become legendary treks famed for there mountain scenery. But Nepal is more than just mountains, a rich history has left Nepal with an array of temples and palaces, while along the plains Chitwan National Park is home to a variety of game including the rare Asian rhinoceros and tigers We can arrange trips for you or your group's specific interest, whether it be trekking in the Himalayas, touring Nepal's cultural sites, or spotting rhinos from the back of an elephant in Chitwan National Park. 10% of our profits go to a school in Kathmandu called the Tashi Waldorf school. For more see our charity work page.
Occupying the western edge of the Tibetan Plateau in Northwest India Ladakh's spectacular landscape and vibrant Tibetan Buddhist culture has enchanted visitors from around the world. Ladakh is a land crisscrossed by colorful canyons, dotted with ancient monasteries, and towered over by snowy peaks. Ladakh lies at altitude ranging from about 9000 feet (2750m) at Kargil to 25,170 feet (7672m) at Saser Kangri in the Karakoram. The summer temperature rarely exceeds about 27 degrees celsius in the shade. While in winter they may plummet to minus 20 degrees, even in Leh. Surprisingly though the thin air makes the heat of the sun even more intense than at lower altitude. It is said that only in Ladakh can a man sitting in the sun with his feet in the shade suffer from sun stroke and frostbite at the same time. Whether you are cultural coinsure or and outdoor enthusiast we will be happy to work with you in order to tailor a Ladakhi experience for you or your group's specific interest, whether it be trekking, cycling, rafting, or jeep touring. We also offer a 15 day all inclusive package tour taking in the highlights of Ladakh. Must see sights - Moon Land (Lamayuru), Pengong Lake, Nubru Valley (Valley of Flowers), Tsomoriri Lake and Tshokar Lake, The Hemis Monastery (largest monastery in Ladakh) and Zanskar Valley.
